About Inferno Radio
Launched by former headteacher Heather McIlroy in November 2004, Inferno Radio is a student radio station, which means that it is an entirely voluntary organisation, formed to improve the quality of music in the schools canteen. Inferno Radio was the brainchild of then year 8 student Grant Coles. Grant, along with Pete Daines, Jonathan Hannaford, Aarron Yates, Mark Butterworth and Morgan Perry, formed Inferno on a very simple idea - play what the students want to hear! They wrote off to the schools PTA (PCSA), and came back with a grant of £1000 to buy equipment, aided by assistant head Sean Hewitt.
The Station was taken over partly by John Tyrrell and Ashley Helleur in June 2007, until the building works at Poltair which meant the studio was demolished - and with it the station! We aim to be back up and running once the new build is completed, so keep checking back!
